ADARSHA has been supporting for the last 16 years poor families having differentially-abled children for their physical, social and occupational rehabilitation. Children and youth below the age of 25 years belonging to poor families were supported for their health, education, social and livelihood rehabilitation needs. This program was implemented with financial support of Liliane Fonds, Netherlands and Catholic Health Association of INDIA (CHAI) till 2021. At present the project focuses on facilitating the families to secure assistance provided under various government schemes for the disabled. Under the program the parents of the children as well as the general community is enabled to undertake rehabilitation activities and provide inclusive and accessible physical and social conditions in homes as well as in other public facilities. The parents of the children are organized into Self Help Groups which oversees the rights of children with disabilities and their community based rehabilitation.
“We Ring The Bell” Campaign
“We ring the bell” campaign was conducted to raise awareness in the community about the rights of the disabled children for inclusive education. It was conducted in schools where children and teachers joined to make sounds with bells and instruments proclaiming the right of education for the disabled children.
Caretaker Trainings and SHGs
Caretakers of the disabled children and adult PWDs are brought together for collective action and leanings for conducting community based and home based rehabilitation activities. Self Help Groups of parents/caretakers are formed, who gather once a month to plan for various rehabilitation activities for their children.
